Fresh from its introduction a few days ago, the new Nissan Skyline 400R Limited is now on display at the Japan Mobility Show, so here’s a gallery of the sporty sedan.
Only 400 units of the 400R Limited will be offered, with customers able to place their bookings on November 13 this year – deliveries are set to commence from December 18. With a price tag of 6,935,500 yen (about RM189k), the 400R Limited isn’t as expensive as the Nismo version that went for 7,880,400 yen (RM215k) over two years ago.
The new variant is part of the latest update for the 13th-generation (V37) Skyline, which has been around since 2014. Other variants in the line-up include the regular 400R priced at 6,495,500 yen (RM177k), while the lesser GT Type P and GT Type SP are 5,442,800 (RM148k) and 5,723,300 yen (RM156k) respectively.
Under the bonnet, the 400R Limited sports the familiar VR30DDTT 3.0 litre twin-turbo V6 that serves up 405 PS (400 hp or 298 kW) and 475 Nm of torque. The petrol engine sends drive to the rear wheels through a seven-speed 7M-ATx automatic transmission. This is the same for the non-Limited variant, with the GT Type P and GT Type SP getting a less powerful VR30DDTT making 304 PS (300 hp or 224 kW) and 400 Nm.
Improvements that the Limited gets over a regular 400R include 19-inch aluminium wheels that are wider front and rear to accommodate the Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GT 600 tyres with staggered profiles of 245/40 front and 265/35 rear.
This is paired with a 4% stiffer spring rate at the front, while the rear stabiliser spring rate is up by 44%. The Limited also comes standard with more fade-resistant brake pads for consistent performance at high temperatures.
As for the looks, carbon-fibre is used for the rear boot lid spoiler and side mirror covers. The model also gets a distinctive Limited badge at the rear, while the centre console inside has carbon-fibre side trim and a serial number plate on the stowage lid.
As for updates applicable to the Skyline sedan range, they include improved detection capabilities for the vehicle’s automatic emergency braking system to meet current regulations, along with a new Wangan Blue exterior finish you see here.
