Budget 2026: RM2.5 billion for maintenance of federal roads, installation of lights and road furniture

The tabling of Budget 2026 today by prime minister and finance minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has revealed that RM2.5 billion has been allocated for the maintenance of federal roads.

This includes the filling of potholes, installation of street lamps at risky areas as well as for the replacement of road furniture, while RM700 million has been allocated for contractors of G1 to C4 classification. Meanwhile, RM5.6 billion has been allocated by MARRIS (Malaysian Road Records Information System) for the maintenance of state roads nationwide.

RM30 million has been allocated to strengthen the roles of district engineers to expedite minor repairs at the district level, including those pertaining to complaints received through the MYJalan app. Additionally, the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) will install 3,000 LED lights in selected highway zones which are at risk of accidents.
