A pair of road-registered examples of the iCaur V23 has been sighted at a public EV charging facility, which could indicate their Malaysian market launch soon.
Known in its native China as the iCar V23, the iCaur V23 was previewed in Malaysia in May this year alongside the 03 and 03T (the 03 was launched in Malaysia last month). This has gone on sale as the Chery V23 in Thailand, where it is priced from 699,900 baht (RM90,900).
For comparison to the 03, the V23 measures 4,220 mm long, 1,915 mm wide and 1,845 mm tall with a 2,735 mm wheelbase, making it 186 mm shorter, 5 mm wider and 130 mm taller than the 03, and 20 mm longer of wheelbase.
iCaur V23 previewed in Malaysia
In Thailand, the V23 is offered in rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive forms, with the RWD packing a single 136 PS/180 Nm motor and the AWD getting a 211 PS/292 Nm setup. The RWD is rated for a 0-100 km/h time of 11 seconds, while the AWD variant does it in a considerably quicker 7.5 seconds; both versions are limited to a top speed of 140 km/h.
For its battery, a single 59.93 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) specification is offered for the RWD in Thailand, rated at a claimed 360 km on the NEDC test cycle (a WLTP-rated range closer to 300 km can be expected). The AWD gets a larger 81.76 kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery pack, offering a claimed 430 km of range on the NEDC cycle, or closer to 360 km WLTP.
This can be recharged at up to 85 kW DC for the RWD, and up to 104 kW on the AWD, while AC charging is supported at up to 6.6 kW. Conversely, the V23 can supply up to 3.3 kW through its vehicle-to-load (V2L) function.
Pricing in Malaysia for the iCaur V23 has yet to be officially indicated, though if pricing in its native China is taken as a reference, it might arrive in Malaysia priced not far from the 03, which was launched at prices from RM120k to RM130k. Would you have this, or the 03?
