PLUS, Yinson GreenTech building first integrated EV charging hub – 20 DC chargers at Seremban R&R

PLUS and Yinson GreenTech are building Malaysia’s first highway integrated electric vehicle (EV) charging hub. Located at the southbound Seremban R&R on the North-South Expressway, the EV hub will have 20 DC chargers and eight duplex retail and F&B outlets, including a drive-through facility.

There will also be a parking area for ICE vehicles that are not charging, and standard amenities such as public restrooms and a surau highway users. The roof will be solar-ready. Think of it as a mega petrol station, but one that dispenses electricity instead. The expected to be operational by early 2027,

At today’s groundbreaking ceremony, PLUS and Yinson GreenTech announced the formation of Terra ChargEV, a joint venture entity to develop hubs like this along the highway.

“The Seremban EV hub manifests our commitment to driving the nation’s sustainable mobility that aligns with Malaysia’s National Energy Transition Roadmap and the Low Carbon Mobility Blueprint. The EV hub will be able to enhance user experience and provide facilities to highway users. We also have long-term plans to develop more EV hubs like this in the future,” said PLUS MD Datuk Nik Airina Nik Jaffar, who added that PLUS plans to build 350 EV charging points nationwide by 2028.

“By developing the hubs at critical points, such as along Malaysia’s most vital network of expressways, we are addressing the key concerns of EV drivers, namely, convenience, speed and reliability to overcome range of travelling issues and encourage greater EV adoption. This collaborative effort marks an important step forward in supporting Malaysia’s transition to green mobility and building a robust EV ecosystem,” said Yinson GreenTech CEO Lim Chern Yuan.

The Seremban EV Hub is expected to be operational by early 2027.
