ChatGPT users can now identify songs using @Shazam

Shazam is now available as an integration within ChatGPT, allowing users to identify songs without launching the standalone application.

This development removes the need to switch between applications for music identification and makes the feature accessible on devices with limited storage space. The integration operates within the chatbot interface across major platforms. Apple stated the feature works even if the user does not have the Shazam app installed.

Users must first link the Shazam app with ChatGPT from the Apps page in the chatbot. Once linked, users can summon Shazam in-chat using prompts like “Shazam, what’s playing?” or “Shazam, what is this song?” A pop-up box appears that can be tapped to launch the music discovery service.

The service then listens to the playing tune. ChatGPT displays the song’s name, artist, and artwork. It also provides an option to save the song to Shazam. The Shazam integration has started rolling out globally within ChatGPT on iOS, Android, and the web. Apple stated the update is available for immediate use following the initial setup.
