WhatsApp is developing a feature allowing users to customize the app’s icon and branding color. The feature appeared in Android beta version 2.26.6.1, released on February 10, 2026. This follows a similar iOS customization option announced earlier but placed on indefinite hold until it aligns with user requirements.
The update introduces two primary customization options. Development reflects WhatsApp’s response to prior feedback, particularly from the iOS beta where the feature required refinement to address user preferences before proceeding.
The first option provides 14 new app icons. These include distinctive designs named Aurora, Fluffy, Galaxy, Clay, Sparkle, and Neon. An additional seven monochromatic icons offer variations in brown, green, purple, orange, blue, pink, and monochrome.
- Aurora: A unique icon design among the new selections.
- Fluffy: Another distinctive style available for user choice.
- Galaxy: Part of the 14 icons spotted in the beta.
- Clay: Included in the customization set.
- Sparkle: One of the named creative icons.
- Neon: Featured alongside others in the update.
- Monochromatic icons: Seven options in brown, green, purple, orange, blue, pink, and monochrome.
Users retain the ability to select the classic icon, which received a refresh several years ago, ensuring continuity for those preferring familiar appearances.
The second customization option enables changes to the app’s branding color. Originally observed in an iOS beta, this now extends to Android. It presents 19 color choices for personalization.
- Default green: The standard option retained in the list.
- Royal blue: A vivid alternative for branding.
- Violet: Among the diverse shades provided.
- Navy blue: A deeper blue variant.
- Light purple: A softer purple tone.
- Dark gray: Neutral option for themes.
- Coral: Warm hue in the selection.
- Dark olive green: Earthy green shade.
- Teal: Blue-green combination.
- Burgundy: Rich red-based color.
- Brown: Standard earth tone.
- Beige: Light neutral shade.
- Seafoam green: Pale green option.
- Yellow: Bright primary color.
- Olive green: Muted green variant.
- Pink: Soft pink inclusion.
- Red: Bold primary hue.
- Orange: Vibrant warm color.
- Golden yellow: Metallic yellow finish.
These features integrate into WhatsApp’s forthcoming premium plan, accessible through a monthly subscription. Pricing details remain undisclosed and could differ across countries. The premium plan functions as an optional enhancement, leaving private messaging and all core functionalities free for every user.
