The company acted because the requests violated OpenAI\u2019s national security policy.<\/p>\n<p>The users specifically asked ChatGPT to design social media \u201clistening\u201d tools and other monitoring systems. In separate actions, OpenAI removed Chinese-language accounts that used the platform for phishing and malware operations. These accounts also explored automation through China\u2019s DeepSeek platform. Additionally, the firm banned accounts tied to suspected Russian-speaking criminal groups that utilized the chatbot to aid in creating malware.<\/p>\n<p>Since launching its public threat reporting system in February 2024, OpenAI has disrupted more than 40 malicious networks.
