Following its global debut in July this year, the third-generation Mazda CX-5 has now made its first public appearance at the ongoing Japan Mobility Show. <\/p>\n

Larger than its predecessor, the latest CX-5 measures 4,690 mm long (+115 mm), 1,860 mm wide (+15 mm), 1,695 mm tall (+15 mm) and with a wheelbase of 2,775 mm (+75 mm). Designed following the brand\u2019s new \u2018Wearable Gear\u2019 concept, the SUV appears somewhat familiar but with notable changes so you don\u2019t confuse it with the older model. <\/p>\n

At the front, the seven-point grille gets a black frame connected to the headlamps with a tiered daytime running light signature. Slightly squared off wheel arches have also been implemented, while the roofline slopes less towards the rear. On that mention, the L-shaped taillights are reminiscent of those on the CX-60 and CX-80, accompanied by a Mazda script and dual tailpipes. <\/p>\n

Inside, there\u2019s a brand-new dashboard that places a large touchscreen front and centre. This can be in 12.9 or 15.6 inches, with many vehicle functions, including the climate system, being integrated to reduce the number of physical controls. For the driver, there\u2019s a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and steering wheel that sports the Mazda script instead of logo. <\/p>\n

The CX-5 was introduced with just an e-Skyactiv G mild hybrid engine, a 2.5 litre naturally-aspirated inline-four unit making 141 PS and 238 Nm. Augmented by a 24-volt mild hybrid system, the mill is paired with a six-speed Skyactiv-Drive automatic transmission driving the front wheels.<\/p>\n

According to a market insight report by Maybank Investment Bank, Bermaz Auto plans to start local assembly (CKD) of the all-new CX-5 sometime in its financial year 2027 ending April 30, 2028. <\/p>\n
