Fallon also told Colbert that he was welcome on his show &quot;anytime you want to go on.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>When Colbert asked him when it would be convenient for Fallon to let him substitute, Fallon jokingly dodged the question, saying, &quot;Enjoy a little time off.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>CBS announced in July that &quot;The Late Show with Stephen Colbert&quot; would be canceled in May, after more than three decades on air.<\/p>\n<p>The network said it was a purely financial decision. News of the cancellation came shortly after Colbert made a joke about CBS paying a $16 million settlement to Trump over a lawsuit that accused CBS of &quot;deceptive editing&quot; in a &quot;60 Minutes&quot; episode.<\/p>\n<p>Colbert&#039;s exit comes as late-night has faced a stressful year.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;Jimmy Kimmel Live!&quot; was suspended for about a week in September after Kimmel&#039;s comments on political activist Charlie Kirk&#039;s shooting angered the Trump administration.
