Had to pay RM2.60 a litre for your RON 95 petrol due to a technical glitch? Domestic trade and cost of living (KPDN) deputy minister Datuk Dr Fuziah Salleh has said, according to a report by The Star, that you can apply for a refund for the difference from October 9.
“There were some complaints, such as system outages, but it was managed speedily. However, if motorists ended up paying unsubsidised RON 95 prices as a result, they may file for a claim,” she said yesterday, adding that on the whole, Budi Madani RON 95 (Budi95) has been running smoothly nationwide since its September 30 start.
Beginning October 9, businesses and individuals can apply for refunds for unsubsidised petrol purchases made between September 30 and October 31 at https://mysubsidi.kpdn.gov.my with the claims supported by proof of purchase, such as receipts.
Businesses have to be registered with the Subsidised Petrol Control Scheme (SKPS) and submit proof that they have applied for a fleet card on or before October 31. Subject to KPDN verification and approval, refunds will be credited to applicants’ bank accounts within 15 working days.

To date, only around a quarter of businesses in Malaysia running vehicles eligible for subsidised petrol (about 100,000 vehicles) have registered for SKPS, Fuziah said.
“The response has not been very encouraging, but the ministry is engaging the relevant groups, such as taxi associations, to get them to register under the SKPS to enjoy the petrol subsidy.
“Those who register late can still claim the subsidy backdated from October 1 as long as they produce receipts for their petrol purchase. We hope they will register under the SKPS promptly,” she said.
