U.S. President Donald Trump is scheduled to undergo another medical examination this week at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. The visit has intensified focus on the health of the American leader, who turns 80 next month, UNN reports, citing Bloomberg.

The White House stated that these are routine annual dental and medical checkups. At the same time, this visit has already raised new questions regarding Trump's well-being.

This will be the U.S. President's fourth visit to doctors since the start of his second term that has become public knowledge. Against this backdrop, scrutiny of Trump's health is increasing due to his age.

Over the past year, some external signs of aging have become noticeable, including leg swelling, skin discoloration on the neck, and bruising on the hands. Trump has also been diagnosed with venous disease.

Last year, the American leader underwent extensive heart and abdominal examinations, which the White House described as preventative. Additionally, media members have noticed that during public events in the Oval Office, Trump sometimes closes his eyes for extended periods.

What Trump says about his health

Donald Trump himself has repeatedly stated that he is in good physical and mental shape. He has also claimed to have successfully passed cognitive tests.

"I took it (the cognitive test – ed.) and aced it all three times. It's nice to be smart," Trump stated.

However, Arthur Caplan, head of the Division of Medical Ethics at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine, noted that the White House controls the amount of information released about the president's health.

"They will report what Trump and the White House want us to know," he said.

In turn, the White House promised to release a separate statement following the U.S. President's visit to the medical center. White House spokesperson Davis Ingle emphasized that Trump remains in "excellent health."
