Ubisoft workers in France, represented by the Solidaires Informatique union, conducted a three-day strike from February 10 to 12, 2026, with at least 1,200 participants primarily in France and also at the Milan office, protesting layoffs, cost-cutting measures, a return-to-office mandate, and seeking a 10 percent salary increase and four-day work week.
At the end of January 2026, Ubisoft employees in the company’s home country of France issued threats of strike action amid extensive layoffs and efforts to reduce costs. Union members proceeded with the action this week. GamesIndustry.biz reported that Solidaires Informatique confirmed the participation figure of at least 1,200 staff members during the strike period.
The labor action centered in France but extended to Ubisoft’s office in Milan, as sources informed GamesIndustry.biz. Solidaires Informatique organizes French workers across various video game sector companies, including Blizzard and Ubisoft. The union had earlier scheduled strikes for January 27, 2026, presenting specific demands for a 10 percent raise across all salaries and adoption of a four-day work week.

Striking workers displayed signs outside Ubisoft’s Paris headquarters, where one individual wore a Rabbids mask to conceal their identity, as captured in photographs. Their complaints encompassed multiple issues tied to company policies and recent decisions.
Ubisoft laid off hundreds of employees during 2026. The publisher imposed a requirement for staff to return to onsite work five days per week. An employee who openly expressed opposition to this policy faced dismissal as a result.
On the development front, Ubisoft canceled six games last month, including the long-delayed remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. The company also announced closures of several studios within its organizational restructuring efforts.
On February 12, 2026, Ubisoft released a statement to Engadget addressing the unrest. “We understand these changes, particularly those affecting work organization, are generating strong feelings,” the company stated. “Since the announcement, we have held a series of discussions and information sessions at multiple levels to help teams better understand the new organization and to give them the opportunity to share their questions and concerns.” Ubisoft further noted that it “remains committed to maintaining an open and constructive dialogue with employees and employee representatives.”
