U.S. President Donald Trump wrote on social media that he "very much wanted to be" at his son Don Jr.'s wedding, but "circumstances regarding the government" and his love for America prevent him from doing so, UNN reports, citing AP.
"I feel it is important for me to remain in Washington, D.C., at the White House during this important period of time," Trump wrote.
The U.S. President was originally scheduled to spend the weekend at his estate in Bedminster, New Jersey, and had no intention of traveling to the Bahamas, where the wedding is reportedly taking place.
His post appeared a day after Trump told reporters that his son "would love for me to go" and "I'm going to try to do it."
But he also added: "It's not a great time for me. I have a thing called Iran and other things."
Recall
Earlier, media reported that the U.S. President's eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., will marry Palm Beach socialite Bettina Anderson on a small island in the Bahamas this weekend.
