Prince William reacted emotionally in the stands of Beşiktaş Park to the victory of his favorite club, Aston Villa, in the Europa League final against Germany's Freiburg (3:0), UNN reports.

Details

The Prince of Wales was present at the Beşiktaş Park stadium, where Aston Villa crushed Germany's Freiburg 3:0 in the final.

After the final whistle, William could not contain his emotions as he celebrated his favorite team's victory.

He is a long-time fan of Aston Villa, so he even broke into tears after the trophy was won.

Later, in the tunnel area, William took a photo with the "Brummies" head coach Unai Emery and the Europa League trophy.

The Prince himself wrote on the X social network: "An incredible night. Heartfelt congratulations to all the players, the team, the staff, and everyone associated with the club. 44 years since our last taste of European silverware. A special mention for Boubacar Kamara, who was out through injury but is such an integral part of our team and helped lay the foundations for this success."

Addendum

William previously stated that he has been a long-time fan of Aston Villa.

"A long time ago at school, I got into football. I was looking for a favorite club. All my school friends were either Manchester United fans or Chelsea supporters. But I didn't want to follow their lead. I wanted a team that was closer to the middle of the table, which could give me more emotional rollercoaster moments. I have friends who support Aston Villa, and one of the first FA Cup matches I went to was Bolton vs. Aston Villa in 2000. It was a fantastic feeling: I felt the atmosphere, the camaraderie, and I really felt there was something I could connect with,"

William said.

Aston Villa captain John McGinn, following the victory, urged the Prince of Wales to celebrate this historic moment in style.

"He's a great guy, he was in the dressing room before the game. It's brilliant to have his support, and he's just a normal guy. Hopefully, he can have a few drinks with us and maybe get his credit card out at the end of the night,"

McGinn said jokingly.
