In Latvia, the threat in the airspace, declared on Thursday morning due to a drone, has been canceled, writes UNN with reference to LSM.

Details

"The possible threat in the airspace in Krāslava, Ludza, Rēzekne, and Augšdaugava municipalities, as well as in the cities of Rēzekne and Daugavpils, has ended," the report states.

Residents in these areas were sent cell broadcast alerts on Thursday before 11:00 AM, the National Armed Forces (NBS) of Latvia informed.

NATO fighter jets performing Baltic Air Policing missions were scrambled in the Baltic airspace.

The National Armed Forces confirmed that the drone entered Latvian airspace from the direction of Belarus. "Currently, there is no reason to believe that it has already left Latvian airspace," the publication indicates.

NBS representative Māris Tutins confirmed to Latvian Radio that "at least one drone has been detected in Latvian airspace." The latest information indicates it was spotted in Krāslava municipality.

When asked if there were plans to shoot down the drone, Tutins replied that "everything is being done to do so," adding that they are looking for ways to accomplish this without causing harm to residents. It is also important to identify the drone.

The end of the threat was announced by 3:00 PM.
