Based on SBU materials, a Russian agent who set fire to Ukrzaliznytsia facilities in Kyiv has been sentenced to 15 years in prison. This is reported by UNN with reference to a statement by the security service.

Details

It is noted that a real prison term was handed down to a Russian agent whom the SBU exposed in March 2025 for setting fire to a Ukrzaliznytsia signaling installation in Kyiv. He was detained "red-handed" at the time, as he and an accomplice attempted to flee after the arson on the railway line. Now, the primary executor of the Russian order has received 15 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The perpetrator turned out to be a resident of the capital recruited by the enemy, who worked illegally as an operator for a fraudulent call center. He caught the attention of Russian intelligence services while looking for additional income in specialized Telegram channels. In exchange for the promise of "fast money," he agreed to engage in the arson of facilities belonging to the Kyiv branch of Ukrzaliznytsia

It is indicated that, following instructions from the Rashists, he was to destroy relay cabinets of the signaling installation that regulates train movement on main lines. In this way, the enemy hoped to disrupt the transport logistics of freight shipments.

To carry out the enemy task, the agent recruited an acquaintance—a local unemployed man—for money. Together, they purchased a hammer to break open the electrical cabinet door and used an incendiary mixture to set the equipment on fire during the night

– the SBU reported.

They specified that during the search of the detainees, smartphones, clothing, and arson tools containing evidence of work in favor of the aggressor country were seized.

"Based on the materials of the Security Service, the agent was found guilty under Part 2 of Art. 28 and Part 2 of Art. 113 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (sabotage committed by prior conspiracy by a group of persons under martial law). The case materials regarding his accomplice are currently being considered in court," the security service added.

As a reminder

Recently, the counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine detained another FSB agent in the Dnipropetrovsk region. The perpetrator coordinated Russian strikes on Nikopol using multiple launch rocket systems, tube artillery, and FPV drones.
