Since the beginning of the day on May 17, Russian occupiers have attacked the positions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces 46 times. This was reported by UNN with reference to the General Staff of the AFU.

In the Sumy region, the settlements of Tovstodubove, Rohizne, Sopych, Korenok, Marchykhyna Buda, Sukhodil, Ulanove, Yastrubshchyna, Bezsalivka, Bachivsk, Volfyne, and Kozache were affected; in the Chernihiv region – Yeline, Yasna Polyana, Mykhalchyna-Sloboda, and Khrinivka. The settlements of Vilna Sloboda and Ulanove in the Sumy region were hit by airstrikes.
The situation in specific sectors of the front was as follows:
In the Pivnichno-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, two combat engagements took place; the enemy launched two airstrikes using three guided bombs and carried out 35 shellings of settlements and our troops' positions.
In the Pivdenno-Slobozhanskyi direction, the enemy stormed the positions of our units four times in the areas of Vovchanski Khutory and Dvorichanske, and towards Ternova and Kolodyazne.
In the Kupyansk direction, the enemy did not conduct offensive operations.
In the Lyman direction, since the beginning of the day, five combat engagements with the enemy took place in the direction of the settlements of Lyman, Drobysheve, and Zarichne.
In the Slovyansk direction, the Defense Forces successfully repelled one attempt by the invaders to advance towards Rai-Oleksandrivka.
In the Kramatorsk direction, no enemy offensive actions were recorded.
In the Kostyantynivka direction, the invaders carried out 14 attacks near Kostyantynivka, Ivanopillya, Illinivka, Rusyn Yar, Toretske, Sofiyivka, and in the direction of Vilne. Three combat engagements are still ongoing.
In the Pokrovsk direction, since the beginning of the day, the occupiers have attempted to push our soldiers from their positions 10 times in the areas of Rodynske, Novooleksandrivka, Hryshyne, Udachne, and Molodetske. One battle is ongoing.
In the Oleksandrivka direction, no enemy offensive actions were recorded.
In the Hulyaypole direction, the Defense Forces successfully repelled nine enemy attacks in the areas of Zlahoda and Varvarivka, and towards Nove Zaporizhzhia, Zaliznychne, and Charivne. Two more combat engagements are ongoing.
In the Orikhiv direction, the enemy conducted one unsuccessful offensive action in the area of Bilohirya.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, no enemy offensive actions were recorded.
