Russian director Andrey Zvyagintsev addressed Russian dictator Vladimir Putin from the stage of the Cannes Film Festival with a call to end the war. He stated this after receiving the Grand Prix of the 79th Cannes Festival for the film "Minotaur," UNN reports.

During his speech, the director stated that millions of people "on both sides of the line of contact" want only one thing – an end to the loss of life.
"The only person who can stop this meat grinder is you, Mr. President of the Russian Federation. End this slaughter already. The whole world is waiting for this,"
Zvyagintsev said.
The director also noted that he was not sure if Putin would watch the award ceremony live, but expressed hope that his words would be conveyed to the President of the Russian Federation by people from his inner circle.
Andrey Zvyagintsev is one of the most famous contemporary Russian directors. His films have repeatedly received international awards and have been nominated for an Oscar.
